The State Treasurer’s booth in the Expo Building at the Nebraska State Fair offers visitors a chance to search for unclaimed property and to learn more about the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust (NEST), Nebraska’s state-sponsored college savings program. The booth is open 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. throughout the fair. Hours on Labor Day are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The Unclaimed Property Division had a very busy first weekend with more than 45 claims filed in the first four days of the fair. Celeste Hall, director of claims, said visitors claimed more than $8,000 on Monday, August 25, alone. “Lots of people are finding people they know in our books and taking business cards to have them call the office and claim their money,” she said.
Here are snapshots of visitors to the booth on Saturday, August 23.
