First National Bank of Omaha, Nebraska Educational Savings TrustAnnounce NEST on the Farm Scholarship Contest Winners

(OMAHA, Neb. Sept. 3, 2011.) – First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg announced the scholarship winners for the NEST on the Farm scholarship contest today at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island, NE. The three first place winners each received a $5,000 NEST (Nebraska Educational Savings Trust) scholarship sponsored by First National Bank of Omaha.

The contest was announced in late June and ran through August 5, 2011. It was open to children of Nebraska farmers. Each contestant was required to write and submit an essay describing how growing up as part of a farming family in Nebraska impacts his or her goals for higher education. All entries were divided into three age groups: 7-9 years of age; 10-11 years of age; and 12-13 years of age.

First National Bank of Omaha, Nebraska Educational Savings Trust Announce the NEST on the Farm Scholarship Contest

(OMAHA, Neb. Sept. 1, 2011.) Today First National Bank of Omaha announced they will award $51,000 in scholarship money through the NEST (Nebraska Educational Savings Trust) “Draw Your Dreams” scholarship contest. Twelve contest winners will each receive a $3,500 scholarship and 12 runners-up will each receive a $750 scholarship, to be invested in a NEST Direct 529 College Savings Plan account. The scholarship is sponsored by First National Bank of Omaha who is partnering with The Nebraska Art Teachers Association to judge the entries. NEST is Nebraska’s 529 College Savings Plans and First National Bank of Omaha serves as the Program Manager.

(OMAHA, Neb. August 1, 2011.) – First National Bank of Omaha and the Omaha Children’s Museum announced today a scholarship contest in honor of their Dinosaurs, Dawn of the Ice Age exhibit. One contest winner will receive a $3,500 scholarship, to be invested in a NEST Direct 529 College Savings Plan account. The scholarship is sponsored by First National Bank of Omaha. NEST is Nebraska’s 529 College Savings Plans and First National Bank of Omaha serves as the Program Manager.

State Treasurer Stenberg Announces Winners in 2011 College Savings
Program Essay Contest

Lincoln, Neb.- Twelve winners have been chosen out of a record 1,051 entries in the 2011 College Savings Program essay contest sponsored by the Nebraska State Treasurer’s Office and the Omaha Storm Chasers baseball team.

Seventh and eighth grade students from Nebraska and across the United States were invited to submit essays addressing the theme, “Why I Want to Go to College.” The essays were judged by faculty and students in the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha with final selections made by State Treasurer Don Stenberg.
